Lesson Payment: I am pretty flexible with the method of payment for each of my students, just as long as there is a spoken agreement between myself and the parent. Lessons must be paid monthly, as it is a commitment to consistency and commitment. Checks should be made payable to Charlene Bishop but please note that you are responsible for paying for check bouncing fees, so please be sure you have the proper funds.
Attendance: Every student’s lesson is scheduled the same day, same time, every week. Regular attendance is essential for the student’s progress and success. Student’s may miss only one lesson every two months with the exception of illness or emergencies. Any lessons missed by me will be made up.
Make-up Lessons: Lessons missed casually will not be made up! As you will come to find out, I don’t often miss lessons and the same consideration is expected of you. Out-of-town guests, picnics, team games, etc., are NOT valid reasons for a make-up lesson. Illness, death in the family, or emergencies will be the ONLY excuses accepted for receiving a make-up lesson. If you know ahead of time that you will miss a lesson, it is your obligation to contact me.
Cancellations: All students are required to cancel at least 24 hours in advance. If student fails to do so, he/she will be charged for that lesson. Exceptions are made for emergencies only.
Student and Parent Responsibilities: Experience has shown that the speed at which a child learns a skill, such as playing a stringed instrument, is directly associated with the amount of parent involvement. Parents of young and beginner students are required to attend all lessons and supervise all home practice. Please be prompt to all lessons! Like any profession where scheduling is back-to-back, I may run a few minutes late from time to time, but I will make every effort to keep promptly on time as a courtesy to all students.
Student Responsibilities: All students are expected to practice every day for at least 30 minutes. They are expected to follow lesson assignments written in their notebook for the week, come prepared with all the appropriate music, material, and notebook and keep nails clipped short.
